Search Graphs Data

To provide a visual representation of the search visibilty for the top 100 sites across the monitored search terms in each market sector a X-Y linear plot is used.

The X-axis scale is % coverage of the search terms the website ranks for within the top 50 results of the monitored search engine. Example, if there are 50 phrases and a given website has 40 phrases ranking somewhere within the top 50 it would have 80% coverage.

The Y-axis scale is Average Rank which is computed as the average rank (1-50) for all the terms the given website ranks for.

A sample graph is shown below:

For “live” data the graphs are interactive and rolling over a given point reveals the URL whil clicking on a given point goes to the specified website.

As the ideal location is 100% coverage with an average rank of 1 the premium position is absolute top right.

The graph is shaded in quadrants to highlight the main areas:

One question we are often asked is can we plot the graph for site X?

Because the data is search term driven ie. we consider all the sites that rank in the top 50 results for each off the evaluated phrases when processing the data.

Therefore, If a site features within the top 100 sites it will be shown in the graph – there is no exclusion of sites due to the process being keyphrase driven.

Always best by example so for the  interative search data view any of the posts within the monitored sectors.
